Nikki's Riding for Camp Kudzu

21 miles on 49th Birthday · 31 October 2020
Whew! 2020 has been a year but we are HERE! Every year since I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, I have asked you to donate to Camp Kudzu - a nonprofit that offers summer camps and programming for kids and their families managing Type 1 Diabetes.
The work that Camp Kudzu has done for the last 21 years continues even though in person camps were cancelled. The Camp Kudzu team offered Camp KudZoom over the summer at no cost to hundreds of children with T1D. They have held virtual meetings and panels for the T1D community because the need for support is even greater during a pandemic. They have done all this with a dramatically reduced budget and staff.
Previously, I fundraised through a camp sponsored bike ride. Due to COVID-19, I made the decision not to participate in group activities and struggled with sending this email because I know many of you have experienced hardships. But I also know that Camp Kudzu is in their 21st year and it’s imperative that the amazing work they do continues.
I have not been biking much but on my 49th birthday (Sat, Oct 31), I am riding 21 solo miles in celebration of Camp Kudzu. Please consider donating to Camp Kudzu in support of this effort and my birthday. Truly ANY amount you give would be GREATLY appreciated. Together we can make a difference in the lives of kids with T1D.
Enjoy your many blessings
